Invertebrates add "soul" and imagination to your marine aquarium. Without Polyps swaying in your tank's current, like in the picture, its just another fish tank. Without corals, crabs, shrimp and slugs its an unnatural aquatic habitat. The natural fluid beauty and tranquility of your aquarium is vastly enhanced by invertebrates. Simply put, Invertebrates are animals without backbones. They range from the simplest microscopic creatures like amoeba and protozoan to complex creatures like octopus. Of all the animals on Earth, invertebrates comprise about 95% of all known species. Our oceans are teaming with them, plus some that live in freshwater.

Many invertebrates, insects for example, adapted and invaded the land and atmosphere around us. Thus it is Humans that are part of an invertebrate world, not the other way around. They prosper well without us, but what if we didn't have invertebrates? It would be a lonely, relatively lifeless world. That's why having a rich assortment of invertebrates in your aquarium is necessary. They bring reality and are essential for realistic reef simulation.
